Student Information
Transport:
From Auckland there is an express bus via the North Shore busway which leaves at 07.00am ( via Takapuna at 07:18am and Albany at 7.30am). Students get around a 40% discount.
We are 30 minutes by car from Warkworth and most of West Auckland. Students often save money by car pooling with others from the same area. Free car parking is available at the Academy. The Principal will advise and help you with transport arrangements.
Student Accommodation – Boarding:
The Academy does not operate its own boarding facilities but will introduce you to families who offer friendly home-stay accommodation. Some have offered boarding to nanny students for many years.
IT & Library:
Most students bring their own laptop. The Academy has free WiFi broadband internet and desktop computers are also available for student use. A library of specialist books and DVDs is available to students and staff.
Job Placement & Counselling:
The principal helps students find employment and will advise on future educational options. She is an experienced counseller and for any personal issues will also refer students for specialist help.
Cultural Advisor:
The Academy has a cultural advisor to help us meet the needs of Maori students and can also provide support and help. We welcome Pacifika students and those from all cultures. We will provide all the help you need to feel comfortable.
Recreation:
The Hibiscus Coast Leisure Centre is nearby. It offers an indoor pool, badminton, aerobics, aqua aerobics and netball at student rates. The area has many beautiful beaches and is home to the Shakespear Regional Park with great tramping and awesome scenery. The bright lights of Auckland are 30 minutes drive away.
End of Course Function:
At the end of the course a graduation function will be held for family, whanau and friends. The cost for students is included in your course fees.
